About Stefano Levi
Stefano Levi is a freelance photographer and filmmaker. He specializes in documentary films, reportage photography and commercial advertisements. He has an extensive international experience and travels regularly worldwide for assignments, also in very remote regions of the planet.
BIO
Stefano Levi, Ph.D. was born in Trieste, Italy where he lived and grew up until he was 16. His father Giorgio was a passionate amateur photographer who thought him the basics of and allowed him to use his Contax SLR camera. 13 of age, he received his first Minox GT. Although photography had been a ever-present interest in his life - and the only thing he never got bored of - Stefano always kept it as a leisure activity and decided to pursue a scientific career by graduating in Chemistry at the University of Parma in Italy first, and later by obtaining a Ph.D. in Chemical Technology at the University of Twente, Netherlands. Stefano is a self-thought photographer who developed as such in the course of more than 20 years of practice. In 2002 Stefano moved to Germany, where he first worked as a Research Scientist in the field of Materials Technology and later as a Technology Development Scout and as a Business Development Manager for a renowned multinational chemical company. During this period photography increasingly gained important in his life until ultimately lead to a radical change. His job as a Manager and Scout, his outstanding international experience and speaking 5 languages helped him developing a set of skills that allowed him to make a radical turn in his professional life in 2008, leaving the corporate world and setting up his own business in Documentary and Advertisement Filmmaking and Photography. Stefano now leads a small independent Media Production Business and works as a filmmaker, producer and photographer. His editing Studio is currently located in Cologne.
CLIENTS AND PROJECTS
Since 2008 Stefano organizes Photo Safari Workshops in Africa. He leads small groups of photographers through Nature’s wonders Southern Africa offers. Who joins his Namibia and Botswana Photographic Safaris will experience Wildlife and Wilderness Photography at its best.
Stefano Levi works internationally with enterprises for advertisement campaigns. He participated as a Photographer and Filmmaker to the three last editions of the Dakar Rally, two of them in Chile and Argentina.
Currently Stefano works on his own initiated documentary filmmaking and photography projects. Some of these support the efforts of humanitarian NGOs and companies dedicated to the environmental issues helping less privileged people in remote areas of the planet.
